I never said low wage earners were "bums", bee tee dubs. You're a home healthcare aid making 13.75, so you have an education (and are continuing to earn one) and Im sure you work hard to balance that into your life, so you think there are people with zero skills that deserve to make $1.25 more than you an hour?

That's a strange way to think. Wage inflation doesn't do anything.

They raise these salaries to $15.00 an hour, then the same with every industry, so college graduates need to be raised 30-40% as well and then companies charge more and everything is more expensive. So what we have is money that doesn't really buy anything.

Currently receiving it but thanks for checking in. I would happily work at McDonald's. Problem is, my unemployment is more than I would make there.

Oh yeah? Maybe its paying off student loans or putting the maximum amount in 401k (because Ill be damned if social securtiy exists in 50 years) and I also am saving up to buy a house in the next 10 years and I am saving up for emergencies and I also donate money to three different organizations.

Yeah, I just must be an idiot.

No, I just said you were doing something wrong. Now perhaps I was premature I'll admit. I don't know what your personal situation is so for that I apologize.

I will back off a little and say that I would be okay for fast food workers to make $13 or so an hour, but they must submit to drug testing (though Im not an owner, that would be my view).

Drug testing is generally for safety sensitive position like bus or train operators, or theme park ride operators. That can be expensive for a company.

In WA I think 13 might be reasonable.

Yeah it can, but I think it would also be good for the community (less people on drugs = less crime). Obviously I dont own one of these restaurants, but it will be interesting to see how everything plays out.

Im not trying to get personal with anyone here, this is the type of response I wanted.

Another issue that might come in to play: While Seattle (area) is expensive housing-wise, the tri-cities are relatively cheap. So if this was a state-wide mandate (not just owners choice) it would be interesting to see how far $15.00 goes in the Tri-Cities.

Hmmm... using that logic, drugs should legal and cheaply distributed to cut down on crime Something tells me stoned burger flipper will be getting in less trouble than stoned guy with too much time on his hands.

That makes no sense. If less of the community is buying/abusing drugs then that means there is a smaller black market for them and that means less dolla dolla bills yall.

If a company wants to pay for drug testing, in exchange for paying it's employees a livable wage, I'm all for that. I might also suggest they do what is being done in my home state, and require that companies e-verify employees to make sure they are legal to work in this country. This keeps employers honest.
