DT as in downtown im assuming in Seattle? Whats your suggestion for being an out of stater thats gonna have out of state plates for awhile if he wants to explore the downtown area? I'm getting a lot of info stating that the downtown area of Seattle gets fairly scetchy when dark falls.

Sorry, but i'm from a big state and a small town so getting used to big Seattle requires me to relearn how I go about my daily business and not get into trouble.

Thanks for the incite, I feel more comfortable doing the phone interview now. Wish the building and location was a bit more "up to date, or at least a dedicated parking area without an abandoned house right next to it but I haven't been hired yet either so i'm just catastrophising again with my OCD

DT = Downtown.

If you can, either leave your car at home or at a Park and Ride and take the bus or light rail into DT to explore.

I wouldn't say it's completely sketchy. After dark, I (a female) will not walk through International District (away from Uwajimaya area) alone. Pioneer Square is urine soaked, and considered sketchy-- personally I was never concerned. Belltown gets annoying with those... frat boys and the "scrubs" type of guys around the clubs area and the rest of Belltown have the homeless wandering around. Otherwise, with exceptions to a few areas, DT is pretty dead and its actually nice because there's no hustle and bustle. The lights make it very beautiful. Which reminds me, for the best night-time DT view... Go to the Lookout Bar in Capitol Hill (Bellevue Ave/Bellevue Place) and go out in the back.

What about the paid parking area's with someone watching over the lot?

There are more lots that are automated than with someone watching over the lot. If you can afford it, go for it.

Keep in mind 100,000+ people a day go downtown, 10's of thousands of them park their cars and by in large they're still there when they get off work every night. The only thing I'd caution you against is parking your car downtown when it's packed full of all your stuff. Also, if you have out of state plates, that makes your car more attractive because thieves will see it as possibly belonging to "some dumb hick that doesn't know to lock up his valuables" - so just make it very obvious that there's nothing in your car to steal and you'll be fine.

I never leave anything in my car and its always kept spotlessly clean inside, its just how I am with my Honda's. The windows are also tinted very dark

I'm just glad somebody found a use for Microsoft "Paint" other than screen shots.

There are other forums on the web where Paint art is a great way to convey a message. I once drew one about a trip I took to Sonic (w/clipart and everything).

Does seem a little out of place in that list. It's sketchy in parts with the hookers and transients, but there's not much reason to avoid it. Plus, its hard to avoid if you need to go to Home Depot or Lowes.
