Seems like everyone is leaving Florida to move to Seattle. I'm in the same boat and can't wait for 2014 to roll around. Just wanted to say thanks for all the info many of you have posted here. It's sure to make my move that much easier when it happens.

Why would people leave Florida for Seattle? Isn't the only reason people live in Florida because its hot everyday?

I'd love to hear from the OP why he wants to leave FL for Seattle. According to many posts on C-D forums, FL has a much friendlier vibe, hotter women, and needless to say, warmer beaches and an actual beach scene, plus all that sun, compared to Seattle. I would think the trend would be in the opposite direction, except for the fact that Seattle has so many tech jobs.

The women part is somewhat subjective but the rest of that may be the exact reasons some may not like Florida. I personally hate all that sun which is why I left San Diego.

So why are you in the Bay Area, then? The fog mitigates the sun, somewhat?

He is leaving because Florida doesn't offer the some opportunity as Seattle metro. Apart from weather and being cheap, most of florida doesn't have a strong environment for the future. It's a fresh start and beautiful area. Plus not need for hurricane insurance!

Ever spent a summer in Florida? It's brutal. Not just sunny, but hot and humid, sticky.

The difference in wages for unskilled work is HUGE, especially between Southeastern states and Washington. There are many Southerners who travel here solely to work (especially in hospitality, construction, and the fishing industries).

Why do people living in Seattle always seem to try to talk newcomers out of moving over? Do they not like newcomers?

Areas of Florida can be very conservative and/or redneck. Maybe that is partly why people move here.
