So we moved to Seattle about 10 days ago and we have been staying in downtown until our stuff gets here. We have been taking advantage of the great location and exploring all of Seattle. Every neighborhood we go to is great and I love them all! I am just curious about which neighborhood is your favorite and why?

If I could afford Queen Anne, I would live there. It seems blissful for the families that can live there.

Ballard is a great neighborhood. I'd say of all the neighborhoods, Ballard feels the most PNW to me. It's very chill and laid back. Lots of surfer types like to live there. Fishermen. Hippies. Hipsters. Families. Singles. Scandinavians. Non-Scandinavians. Blue collar folks as well as very high income corporate types live there. Has an urban feel in the downtown area, but a very residential feel elsewhere. I mean, it really caters to everyone. It's just too quiet for me at the moment, so I don't want to live there right now.

Pike/Pine on Capitol Hill because it feels very urban and vibrant day and night with great restaurants, pubs etc.

Ballard because it is like a town on to its own of sorts...great restaurants, music scene, pubs, shopping and highly walkable in it's downtown core. A lot of fun on a Friday and Saturday night...this is almost always where I go with my husband for "date night" We have a great meal and then wander in and out of pubs and bars soaking in the atmosphere, listening to great music and having some inspired drinks by some really talented bartenders

Ballard is a very nice neighborhood.

But Ballard has surfers? Do they surf a good swell right down the locks?

West Seattle closer to the ferry, Georgetown, and Phinney Ridge.

West Seattle. You have a little bit of separation from the rest of the City yet it's not that far away. Traffic is much lighter, homes are generally less expensive, close to Alki Beach, great restaurants and good community vibe. But it won't be nearly as popular for 20 something hipsters (another reason why I like it...lol).

There's just something about West Seattle. Maybe it seems like it gets better light? But it just has a "feel good" vibe about it.
North Capitol Hill is really nice, great views and gorgeous old houses.
And Madison Park. Has a relaxed, casual, but expensive feel. Classic Seattle neighborhood.

^^^ Love, love, LOVE Madison Park. Reminds me a lot of Carmel, CA - elegant and pricey but also very casual, not at all ostentatious.
