Hi, im making a really big move within the next month either to Portland or Seattle just for a change of climate and mother nature "landscaping". Im from the southernest part of Texas. I looked up the crime map online and its just all over Seattle, i saw the NW part isnt so bad. Can anyone please mention which areas are good to live in for a middle income family.

Once again, crime is not a major problem in Seattle ... you can live anywhere safely. A major deciding factor is what you define as "middle income" - budget will dictate which areas of Seattle you can live in.

Despite what you may see on the crime map no part of Seattle can compare to the crime in many other cities, it's relatively safe all over. The more affluent, suburban parts are going to be the safest but also the least affordable, such as Madison Park, Magnolia, Ballard and Queen Anne. Next would be the areas such as West Seattle, Capital Hill, Maple Leaf, Greenwood, Broadview, and North end. There are too many neighborhoods to mention them all, I would suggest finding some that you like and ask specifics about them after searching for previous posts. For example, there is a thread currently about White Center (though it's technically outside of Seattle). You will want to avoid being near Highway 99 (Aurora Ave/International Blvd).
