Bothell is not Kirkland or Bellevue but it's a nice suburban town still within the 405/Eastside and the homes a bit less expensive. The new builders are all there right now because they have what's left of the new buildable land and the willingness to let it be built.

Camano is surprisingly economical for island living but that is a drive unless you work in the North.

I think Bothell is a little cheaper due to plenty of land to build on and there's scattered "rural" areas in Bothell. I bet you Bothell will become more expensive as it fills up. Brier feels rural which is between Bothell and Lynnwood.

I agree and Bothell doesn't fight development the way other areas do. Someone months ago asked why Woodinville is not developed more and I said there is not a lot of willingness there. An example is a developer that bought some land plus four approx. one acre homes that they were going to develop into roughly 20 homes. It was in the Wellington part of Woodinville. The neighbors gathered together and took it to court. That started in something like 2007 and it went for years.

Concerned Neighbors of Wellington

Then they started listing their battles: Concerned Neighbors of Wellington

The most recent is the Wellington Golf Course which was purchased by UW as a possible site for the University of Washington Cascadia site. As we know, that site was not used so UW sold the site to Snohomish County who wants to develop it into an elaborate sports field and recreation area. The Wellington neighborhood fought again to have input into what it would look like, noise, lights, traffic. If you live in Wellington, you care, so they've put up a lot of battles.

Neighbors To Save Wellington Hills Park: Wellington Hills Park-Woodinville-Snohomish County - What's going on?

The park looks to be pretty great, with sports fields, dog park, mountain bike trails, etc.

Who knows when it will be done but Bothell residents would not typically battle like this to preserve their neighborhood.

So that's just a little backstory of how different communities are developing. There is nothing wrong with Bothell at all and they are doing a lot of downtown redevelopment to make it better but a lot of the new development in Bothell is due to land availability and their willingness to have it developed.

As a Woodinville resident, I completely understand the Wellington neighborhood though, they are just trying to preserve the rural character of the area.

I lived in Seattle area for almost 10 years and never heard of Wellington. I think Brier probably wants to keep their rural character as well. When you drive from Lynnwood going East, it suddenly becomes rural and quiet with plenty of space around homes and even small ranches and such.
