Sorry but Dicks doesn't begin to compare to IN n Out. They are not in the same league. Been to Dicks once and I'll never go again. There is a reason why people come from all over the world to go to In n Out. The same can't be said of Dicks.

They come from all over the world for In 'n Out because of all the hype bestowed on their over-salted offerings by people that don't remember places like Woody's Smorgasburger or Hamburger Hamlet or Hamburger Henry in Long Beach.

Instead of Dick's, I'd compare In 'n Out with Burgermaster or Kidd Valley, both of which smoke In 'n Out across the board.

Been to Bugermaster & Kidd Valley, Red Mill etc...they're not even close in terms to what In n Out offers in 'quality you can taste'. In n Out is very distinct...blind folded one can tell right away by how good it is. In n Out by the way has been around as long if not longer than some of the ones you mentioned.

Burger King or Carl's Jr. are better than any of the local Seattle ones.

Haha, did your Seattle girlfriend break up with you? Just move to LA, much healthier.

So, in terms of quality of life, just how important is it that one city has better cheap hamburgers than another?
I like In-N-Out burgers.
Langers, in LA, has the best pastrami sandwich in the United States.
Despite all that, I don't think I could live in LA. I have children who live there, and it's okay to visit. But it's too big, too crazy, and too hot. I prefer Seattle, despite it's bad pastrami sandwiches and mediocre burgers.

Come on, you're going to accept that Burger King and Carls Jr. are better than any Seattle burger? Really?

Not Burger King. People who like Burger King have either never tasted another burger, or had their taste buds surgically removed.
Carls Jr. is good, and they exist in the Seattle area.
Better than Kidd Valley or Burgermaster? Probably not. I'm a big fan of Burgermaster.
And, as far as more upscale good burgers, Seattle has plenty of them.

Exactly. Next thing you know we're going to accept that the gum wall isn't art.

Yes...because both are grilled not fried. There is a difference in taste. Fried a certain way perhaps but the Seattle burgers joints all do it the same and then want $12.XX+ for less than tasty results.
