Madison Park, a big old PITA to reach services, entertainments sports, Malls. Freeways.

Food is HECK of expensive there, I delivered for UPS there and nothing less than 9 to 10 bucks for lunches there.

Cap hill. My BIL lived there and we've stayed with him a few times. Parking is a nightmare, bars look like delapitated garages, food is far and few between, the people can be shady...

87112, I live in Madison Park (just bought a home there and have spent lots of time there). It's a great neighborhood and actually pretty convenient. I tend to head down MLK and hit Yesler to go to the stadiums. I can take McGilvra if I'm heading down to Mount Baker, Columbia City or getting on I-90. I pop through the Arboretum if I'm heading north to U Village, NE Seattle or hitting the 520, cut up and over Boyer if I'm going to Eastlake, U Dist, Wallingford or I-5. We actually have many cross town commuting options and can pick and choose based on backups.

As far as food, you can get a cheap sandwich at Bert's IGA, also there is a little Vietnamese place that serves a not too expensive big bowl of pho, some of the best pizza in town at The Independent Pizzeria. A couple of the pubs have decent happy hour prices. No McDonald's though, I'll give you that .

You have a point. I am use to Beacon Hill which is central to it all. So everywhere else seems a chore of a drive.

Beacon Hill is for sure one of the best spots for being central, you'ld kick my butt on drives to Georgetown, Columbia, West Seattle and downtown. I'd take you if we raced to the U Dist, Capitol Hill, Husky Stadium or Kirkland though .

You need an all of the above option for the poll, at least as it compares to the current cost of living in these neighborhoods. The natural beauty is still here, but the character of a lot of these hoods is gone or just about gone. West Seattle & Ballard are looking like Bellevue the sequel these days.

I understand why Capitol Hill might not be desirable to a lot of people, especially now, but, of all the complaints one could make, "food is far and few between"?! The volume of restaurants and cafes and grocery stores on the Hill is extremely high, by almost any standard. This doesn't make any sense.
