As I plan out the renovation of my home in Woodinville, I am debating on appliance choices for my kitchen. I'm considering an induction cooktop or a combination gas and induction, with either a gas or electric oven. Is gas considered cheap in the area, or electric power?

Natural gas prices have been dropping, and electricity around here is among the lowest in the country. So I'm not sure the difference in price is going to be significant. But for more control over what you're cooking, you can't beat gas.

As Ira said, little difference in cost so it really boils down to what you prefer to cook on. I went back and fourth a couple of years ago and bought a Wolf gas oven. Many people tried to convince me that I should pay extra for the electric oven option but after going round and round I realized that most bakeries use gas ovens so I settled on gas. It has been amazing and bakes like a dream...better than my old old oven which was gas on top with an electric oven.

OMG, everybody in the Midwest has natural gas stoves, and I've been terrified of it ever since I got here, but by all accounts it IS better to cook with. Beautifulseattlehomes, I always heard chefs mention that too. I wonder what Chef Ramsay would say? <picturing a tantrum at the sight of an electric oven>
