Is there a buffet similar to Sweet Tomatoes (Souplantation) near Seattle?

This is one of my biggest complaints up here. Whenever we go down to SF, LA, etc. we stop by Souplantation because we miss it.

I tried going to Zoopas but it was closed and looks like it has been closed for years.

Of course there are places like Old Country Buffet but it's nowhere near the same.

There's also the salad bar at Whole Foods which is decent but is not all you can eat, etc.

They really need to open up one of these over here. I think it would do really well (despite the failure of Zoopas).

I guess that it is a tough business model (costs, etc.), because the Zoopa in Tukwila was always really busy. We used to like the numerous Fresh Choice restaurants (siblings of Zoopa) in Northern California, although Sweet Tomatoes always seems just a little better.

Great post! I was a regular at Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes when I lived in CA, really liked that place. Such a great deal for like $10-$12 all you can eat and a big selection. Can't believe they have one in Vancouver WA (and lots of them in Portland OR) but not Seattle! It would be a huge hit up here. Old County Buffett is not even close to SP!

I 100% miss this place in NC. I don't understand how Portland gets all the great franchises and we're left with freaking Applebees. People don't want TGI Fridays but we're ok with Applebees?! Weird but true.

Everything I like closes down.... Marie Calendar's closed, Chevy's Fresh Mex(Lynnwood AND Tacoma closed), Baja Fresh (Seattle and Bellevue closed so now I have to wait till I am up in Everette). My kids and I always marvel at what does well here, and what doesn't. Why does Taco Del Mar do good but not Baja Fresh? There's a million Subways (blah) but no Port of Subs (well, the one near Mukilteo). I want a Capriotti's, best sandwhich shop ever! There's two Applebees in Bellevue, one in Tuckwilla, but I prefer Chili's, and alas, no Chili's........

I wish we had a Sweet Tomatoes or Souper Salad. I love a great buffet with a great salad bar.

Fresh Choice and Zoopa used to both be in this area. Then they merged. Then they went out of business. I liked them, and was sorry to see them go. These things aren't easy to predict. These were multi state chains. The Bellevue Square and Tukwila stores were always busy, so maybe it was mismanagement, or problems outside of the Seattle area.

The one in Kent (near Ikea, on the Renton border) is still open, I believe.

Until this thread, I didn't even realize that there were Souplantations/Sweet Tomatoes in Oregon and Vancouver, WA. I'll need to stop by the next time I'm down there.

When we lived in NC we were 180 miles from Raleigh. DH would make the drive to go to hockey games, but he always ate at Sweet Tomatoes, and I'm not sure which was the real attraction.
