By "Asian" are you referring to Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, etc.?

I'm southeast Asian but from what I've noticed, the Eastside suburbs are where more "Asians" (as you described) reside. Sammamish has tons of them, and Redmond, Bellevue, Issaquah, etc. have a good number as well. Most of the folks in this area work in IT jobs. I'd think the best way to get to know people are through churches or community groups.

The southern suburbs (Federal Way, Renton, Kent) also have a good number of Asians. The demographic is different from the Eastside Asians, as most live in lower-income, working-class communities.

Very few HK and Taiwanese in Seattle. But the Taiwanese appear to have a more open social scene:

Though, let's be honest: the vast majority of Chinese speakers you will meet in Seattle are from the mainland or American-born Chinese who know a few phrases but not really the language or know the culture. If I were you, I wouldn't worry about whether someone is from the mainland or not and just be friends. The USA is where old rivalries and issues are supposed to be left behind. Or, at least, steps taken to stop the prejudice. In theory.
