Any recommendations for good Catholic (elementary and high) schools in themetro area? I'd like to send my kids to good Catholic schools and still be within a 30 minute commute to a job in Federal Way? Any insight would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

The Archdiocese of Seattle, which oversees all of the Catholic Schools in a four county area, is considered one of the best Catholic school systems in the country. You can go to the Diocese website and plug in your postal code and the schools close to you will come up.

Are you looking for schools outside of the city of Seattle? Coed or single sex?

High Schools with great reputations include Eastside Catholic, Seattle Prep, Holy Names (all girls), O'Dea HS (all boys), Forest Ridge School Of The Sacred Heart (all girls), John F. Kennedy Catholic to name a few.

Hahaha! I guess that depends on whether you're a progressive Catholic or not. Parents are finally withdrawing their kids from EC over their handling of the dismissal of their very popular vice principal. More people seem to be talking about EC since it moved up to Sammamish, but when it was located in Bellevue not long ago, it wasn't really regarded as being academically remarkable. In fact, I knew kids who transferred from EC to Bellevue High who had trouble in classes at BHS.

A couple more to add to the above list: Bellarmine Prep (h.s., Tacoma), Annie Wright (K-8 coed, h.s. for girls, not Catholic but an excellent day or boarding school), Holy Rosary (K-8, Tacoma).
