If having a large home and extra cash is important, I'd choose Columbus. If you're outdoorsy and don't mind the rain (and can afford it), I'd choose Seattle.
Seattle is expensive no doubt, but there are some affordable burbs still so COL difference might not be as dramatic

Thanks everyone for your valuable inputs!

Below are our existing and new employers in Seattle and Columbus. Should our decision be based on this?

Seattle employers: Expedia and Amazon
Columbus employers: L Brands (formerly Limited Brands) and Nationwide Insurance

Thanks!

I would pick Seattle simply because the sports team are so much better! Seahawks, sounders, mariners..

How different is your life here from her life in Columbus? People often believe that their lives will change significantly if they move to a different city, and that's not necessarily true. Are you homebodies? Do you love spending time out in nature? How do you spend time outside of the 9-5?

Where are your friends? What do you two do on Seattle weekends? What do you two do on Columbus weekends?

If you spend your lives and weekends doing exactly the same things, then choose Columbus for the lower cost of living (and Seriously Big Chocolate Cake, because yum.) Hang some photos of the Sound on your Columbus walls and call it a day.

If you enjoy Seattle for more than the views, if you have a different level of engagement with the city, live here.

Likewise, if you engage with her/your community more in Columbus, live there.

But please, send me a slice of that cake.
