Ferry rides are pretty expensive. I'd rather drive around - assuming it's not rush hour. And I agree that the grey days are the hardest to cope with. But you get used to it - and appreciate the sunshine that much more! And if you ever need a change of scenery, an hour+ driving will take you to 1) another country 2) the ocean 3) several large cities 4) a desert-like place with an abundance of orchards 5) several places to snowboard, ski - or just throw some snowballs for fun.... It's one of my favorite things about this place. There's so much, so close!

Rain? LOL what about Snow? I moved from SF area also, ten years ago. Live in Spokane and the rainfall is less then the national average here,(smerk) but we rarely got 16 inches of snow in the Bay Area, heheheh.

Haha i dont think we are lacking in snow here. Not after these past 2 winters.
But if you really think that you can always take a drive up to Stevens Pass or Snoqualmie Pass
