Hi, in the process of moving to the area and have some questions.

1. Cable
Who are the cable providers in the area? Who's good, bad? Who's reliable? Who's not? Is satellite company a good option with Puget Sound weather? I was a Dish network customers for years, and I was very happy with the service, outage maybe no more than 10 times in the span of 10 years.

2. Utilities
Are there choices of utility companies? Where we live now, we can pick and choose the company that sells power/utility to us, although that situation does not apply state-wide. Some municipalities require residents to subscribe to city power.

3. Broadband
What are the choices? Are there fiber? Speed wise, what do we get? Is it different by area? We get 75 Mbps now, but no fiber.

Thks!

That can vary by city. For example, most of Seattle has Seattle City Light electric, Seattle Public Utilities water, sewer, and garbage, Puget Sound Energy gas. Here on much of the Eastside Puget Sound Energy has gas and electric. We have one small district for water, and a different one for sewer. There is no choice of provider even for cable and garbage, the cities will have a contract to provide those services, and no options for water, sewer or electric. Dish and other satellite providers are popular but in some areas may require more than one dish, and we can't get it at all, due to the many tall trees. For those that have a direct shot at the satellite it's been reliable. We have Comcast cable (fiber), also broadband 305 Mbps and landline through them. It's been pretty reliable but when there is a problem there service is not good at all, and their DVR boxes are terrible. Don't think about going to the office unless you are there before they open or it's 2 hours at least. In the City of Seattle there is a choice of Comcast or Wave broadband.
