i am very depressed in my current city. i will be dangerously depressed if i go back home. i really prefer the rainy, cloudy weather so i doubt it'd depress me. my current city doesn't have much to do which makes me wake up and ask "why am i still alive?"

I would be renting rooms (bed&breakfast) for 1-2 months until i found employment and apt

someone stole my identity so my credit is fugged up which is going to hurt finding a job and renting. how often do employers here require credit checks?

the job will be in any area including those that don't require education because i just need the paystub. how difficult to get a job (any job) it really doesn't matter how much it makes (i've got a side gig). how hard is getting ANY job here? my experience is predominantly in writing & front desks

i really don't want to be homeless here. it is cold at night!

I was planning to move in one of the smaller cities near Seattle that are more affordable.

The kinds of jobs I see available in the area are mostly retail and restaurants, entry level office jobs seem to be taken by college graduates these days. Most employers will do a background check, credit for anything involving money including retail. Even landlords do credit checks now, and will base their decision on it when they have multiple applicants for one apartment. B & Bs would not, typically they just take a credit card. Some of the smaller cities near Seattle are the same or higher rent, you have to get pretty far out to areas with much less "to do" in order to find lower rent.

Except for south/southeast/southwest cities near Seattle. Renton, Tukwila, Skyway/White Center/Burien all have lower rent than Seattle and are close. Generally, there are good and bad parts of those places, and generally less to do, but more than nothing to do.

True. I was shocked and appalled when asked to do a credit check for a house rental. I had just never done one for the other 12 rentals I had been in since high school (not in WA).

Job market around here sucks just as bad as anywhere else, plain and simple...if you aren't an educated tech type. The zealots will jump on me to tell me how ***WRONG*** I am, but we have a large underemployment problem here, so while the "unemployment" numbers are low, getting a living wage without some kind of advanced degree will be tough, unless you're very creative and entrepreneurial. The price of living keeps going up exponentially here, so keep that in mind as well, you can find value outside of the Seattle area where there is next-to-nothing around, but then you're going to deal with horrendous traffic and commute times.
