Must have been a sub-channel. I looked for it and finally remembered that Spokane is a hockey town.

Wait a second, Wenatchee is part of Western Washington now? This is news to me. It makes a lot of sense though and clears things up a bit. So confused about Washington.

Most likely, you were looking at the sub-channel and misunderstood what you were looking at.

King 5 (NBC)'s sub channel is "Kong 6", however it has never showed games on that channel, but does show Evening Magazine.

If Seattle had a NHL hockey team it would get good crowds(sellouts probably) for the first few years as people would be excited for a new pro franchise in town(and also if you have a shiny new arena). Then after the excitement draws down attendence and interest would depend on whether or not the team was a contender(most sports fanbases are warm weather). Just like about every NHL city outside Canada and a few old school franchises--arena sellouts and local interest only keeps up if you have a good team(even a city like Chicago didn't care about the Blackhawks when they were terrible a decade ago--they had the lowest attendence in the league at one point). And because hockey relies more of gate revenues than other sports(TV ratings in the US are low), you need good crowds to have a profitable team.

So it could work in Seattle, but it's not a huge built-in hockey market--people will be interested and you'll have new hockey fans as well as people from other places who grew up with hockey and now live in Seattle. It'll be a similar market to somewhere like San Jose or Denver where you have good crowds in the good years and things lean out in the worse years. It'll be most likely better than a lot of places like Phoenix or Miami where hockey interest is pretty minimal though and franchises are just waiting to move, but it obviously will never be like Minnesota or Winnipeg or Edmonton where people will show up for subpar teams just because people love hockey more than their firstborn children.

All the TV stations can broadcast is HD and then have two or more additional channels that they can broadcast a different program.

IF you have a off-the-air-TV antenna you will notice that stations are numbered 23-1, 23-2, 23-3. The 23-2 and 23-3 channels are sub-channels and are broadcast is less than HD....the 23-1 channel is usually at least 720p which is marginal HD.

There are legal rules on what they can do....but the above is generally what they do!!

Cable eliminates the sub-channel ID's so most cable company customers are unaware that they are getting a sub-channel signal.

Nope, the main channel was broadcasting Evening Magazine. Could not find the hockey game on any of the Seattle stations we get in Wenatchee.

It happened in 2010 when we lost our Congressman and became a western Washington Congressional District.

Then the local feed store changed their name to Coastal Farm and Feed.

We put in for a purchase with the local food co-op thinking we were getting the eastern Washington produce package.....and when I complained they said Wenatchee was part of western Washington, not eastern Washington.

Then it started raining.

I don't mind NOT having a Congressman, and I can ignore the co-op and feed store thinking we were in western Washington..............

BUT DID THEY HAVE TO CHANGE THE WEATHER????

It was on KONG 6, King 5's alternate channel.
