Well... I grew up in a very snooty exclusive neighborhood in a very rich very affluent area (old old money) in Texas. I know snooty snobs. Bellevue is like that, but they are new money, and the Bellevue new money snooty-patooties lack the style and class of the old money snooties I grew up with.

Hope that makes sense!

Have you been back to Tyson's in the last 8 or so years? I think Bellevue and Tyson's are very similar.

I enjoyed Bellevue on visits there. Snooty?? Maybe I am snooty, too, because I have a life and do not bother other people, esp. strangers. I am friendly enough and if someone needed help, I could dial 911 and not leave them on the sidewalk like friendly New Yorkers do. One other difference, downtown Bellevue is very clean. The bus terminal doesnt stink and the snooty population goes about their business and lets U alone.

If you're into nightlife, let me tell you that Bellevue has none. That's what I love about it. Go party in Seattle, but live in Bellevue. It is better in every sense besides the little night life problem.

Well Bellevue doesn't seem snooty to me at all. People have been nice to me but then again I'm the type of person that doesn't try to make friends out of strangers I see on the street. I think in Bellevue people want to just be able to focus on themselves and if you get in the way at the wrong time then you get those weird looks.. To be honest I have met some really nice people here. I have not seen anything that is anything different when it comes to people than I would see in a L .A. or San diego area. I mean these days if all you get is the finger you are lucky. Try places like San Fran or L A where some may let down the window and yell four letter words at you.. Now that is Road rage... The finger is a old school childish signs I would not let that bother you. Just chalk it up to another moron with a car..

I would actually recommend Kirkland. Clean, by the water, and very good nightlife. I don't really like Bellevue that much for 20 something living. I would do Kirkland or Seattle for sure.

Bellevue IS nice, indeed, but from my experience in the Seattle/Bellevue metro areas the YUPPIE set (sans kids) are more frequently found in Redmond, (though this may have changed since MS moved HQ to Bellevue), and the Seattle neighborhoods: Belltown and Fremont.

Kirkland is fun, especially with all the restaurants, bars, movie theater, local shops and waterfront park on Lake Washington. You can literally see Seattle from across Lake Washington. Great place to live for a couple in their 20's.

BTW - I love the Kurt Vonnegut influenced screen name!

Just saw today's Today Show featuring Money Mag's Best Places to Live (pop. 50k-300k?).

Bellevue is #2. Nice photos of the place in the 5 seconds the show devoted to the top 5 places.

Check out Today Show as it airs soon (Pacific Time) on Mon. 7/12.
