I sincerely apologize as I am sure there are probably a number of threads so.....

I am considering a transfer to Seattle for work. I currently live in Georgia which has a fairly low cost of living and I know the cost of living will be higher in Seattle. I will be looking at a salary of about 45K to 46K when transferring. I have three questions....

1. Is it possible to find a two bedroom apartment for less than $1000.00 in a nice, family friendly area?

2. How is the public transportation? Considering driving less and maybe using the train/bus.

3. I would be looking to rent as there is potential for moving again in 5 years, any apartment recommendations?

And, finally, would a move be feasible given the information provided?

It will be difficult at best. The average one bedroom is now $1,300 in King County. Your price range will get a studio in a nice, family friendly area, unless you are willing to commute over an hour each way. The transit system is pretty good though there are major cuts planned in the fll due to budget issues. There will still be service but you could extend an hour commute to 90 minutes or more with additional waiting time due to less frequent routes.
