I got a notice in the mail that our van has toll violation. However, there is no way the date and times can possibly match up. My husband is the only person who drives the van and he was at work during the times these infractions supposedly took place. He may not have even been driving the van (we have three cars) that day I definitely DO NOT drive that thing. I hate driving large vehicles period and I have my own car. How do they know who the violators are so we can stop getting these things? Is it a photo they take? There is just no way this is possible.

Yes, they take a photo of the license plate and it gets the back of the vehicle too. I read that in the SF Bay Area people are doing things like using a sharpie to change a 6 to an 8 or similar to get the toll charged to someone else. If you can get them to review the photo, the expiration date on the plate has to match also, and they should be able to tell if the plate was altered. Good luck though, they have not been very cooperative here about their errors.

First, is it a violation, or just a bill? If you don't have a Good To Go account set up, they just send you a bill by mail.

Second, if it is inaccurate, just ask them for the proof. They have been cooperative when it comes to errors, it's just that you have to report the errors to them. For what it's worth, I haven't had any issues with my account, but I put a transponder on my windshield. I believe most of the errors are with people who are just using the license plate method to be billed.
