And Cowtown? lol. I thought Columbus, Ohio was Cowtown, but I see what your saying. You like Seattle and that's fine, But Seattle most definitely isn't for everyone.
Really? I grew up in Atlanta and I thought it was very suburban in that most of the population lives outside the city proper and it isn't a very walkable city. Seattle on the other hand, has a very large in city population and is very walkable. I also like that Seattle has so many mom and pop stores, versus Atlanta which has mostly big box stores and chain restaurants.

I think one of the differences you found is that Seattle isn't a very "clubby" kind of town. It's more of a grab drinks with your friends at the bar down the street kind of place.

I've met plenty of intelligent black folks here. Seattle downtown has a poor representation if you're walking around, I'll admit that freely, but there's also the crazy white people and the crazy Asian people and the crazy Hispanic people... Just the other day some guy was walking down the street screaming about how he was the Pope and POLICE! GO ARREST THAT GUY! ...I think of it as free entertainment.

Maybe you didn't see very many transgender people because you were mostly here midweek and most of 'em have to work...? :T Anyway, I hope you find a city you enjoy (Don't go to Atlanta. You think the Seattle guys are bad...?!)

Is there a trans culture in Seattle? Things to do? Best area to live that is not too expensive? And what are the attitudes and politics of the city? I've read plenty about the whether but that is not a major concern to me. The summers there, sound a whole lot more tolerable than here. Would appreciate everyone's help and advice, But no ignorance please. Thanks.
You will be welcome here anywhere in the Seattle area. I suggest checking out Bellevue, WA. It's across the lake from Seattle. It still has the urban feel but with less crime and fewer issues. Let us know how it works out for you!

I doubt that. Folks who are obsessed with appearance, sexuality and want.to be seen go against the asexual, blend in vibe of the region..

The OP is the exact polar opposite of a hipster.

Strutting peacock types are unlikely to be satisfied.

I realize I am late to the party here , but I am really surprised. I am a hippy gypsy type liberal professional catch rider for show horses whose HOMETOWN was Houston , Texas, although born and sometimes lived in nasty old Corpus Christi and I am married to a transgendered MtF who I met in Holland still living as a male ( so I have been through it ) but we lived in Texas for some years . Granted she is a Euro, but still we were set to go back to The Netherlands when she got a job here and now we wouldn't live anywhere else. We are at total peace here . NO MORE REDNECKS.. unless we just want them then we can go out in the country . We have our own horses here as well and our youngest daughter who is a musician . Daughter doesn't want to leave either . My spouse and I both show horses and in Texas, she was looked at as a total freak and I always had to blend in but not anymore !! We are ages 50 and 52 respectively. Ironically, the first time we came to this city was to go to a trans friends FUNERAL in West Seattle and we just fell for this place

I have run into my fair share of the strutting peacock types mentioned above all over the TG/TS spectrum . Come back when you return from the "Pink Fog" as I cannot imagine Atlanta having any mercy on you . ( yes of course I have been there ) Most here can't tell if my husband ( I still call her that , I am totally allowed ) is a chick or a older rock star from the past . We don't care.
This person sounds like NeNe Leakes and is going to ***** about something anywhere she goes . No one cares how much of a woman you are , how big your A$$ is here OR if you are black. IF you tend to fight ( yes ahh good old Texas - gross ) you really will have no friends . This is too laid back a place to tolerate violence too awful much . If you must "scrap" all the time, you need to stay in the south .

That's not true. You probably will get made fun of, but just by random strangers. The "progressives" will love you....LOVE you, because you wear your progressivism on your sleeve. They need that. Some feminists will actually hate you, because you became a woman (I didn't know this was a thing 'till I moved to Seattle).

Now, the real thing is that minus a few uncouth comments, you'll probably be left alone and won't have any friends. Who knows though...this is Seattle, after all. I'm sure some people here will associate with you just to show how "progressive" they are. And besides, there are plenty of people on their computers who insist they have tons of friends out here. Some of them can't be lying *that* bad, can they?
Said one of the few Seattle conservatives - this is not true . We have more friends here than we ever had anywhere. BTW namecheck meant no one would say anything to your face .. NOT that you have had or have not had facial feminization surgery , which if you are trans should know that there is such a thing and if you need it or can afford it can make a huge difference . Rendering most free of any trace that they were ever born in a males body. As for you namecheck- I have had MORE than my share of trans dislike ME because I was born a xx woman , not the other way around and I am very liberal .

I have come to the conclusion people get and fit the vibe or they don't. For those that get it... This is our island oasis, our paridise of people who came to the same conclusion about what clicks and what does not. Heck,.I am.a.logger/farmer dude out in the sticks of the OP that loves the spirit, the total freedom of the PNW..

Heck, I care little if someone is brown, pink, green or blue.. Nor do I care what trips someone's trigger on bed, or what appearance one is comfortable with..

What matters is ones values passions and beliefs... ( on other subjects than fashion, and what others think.)

Maybe that is hippie.. Maybe that is liberal.. Or maybe that is the PNW way, and screw the box people try to put people in. !!!

Many Simply do not get it.. They will be frozen out. Yep the freeze.is real, and yep those hurt by not fitting in will call us all kinds of things out of spite.

Peace and love.. And may more people find it with in themselves.
