I am looking to move to the Seattle area to be with family. My brother and his wife recently moved and live in the city. I will be moving with my disabled mother our 2 dogs, 2 cats, and my horse. I work in Adult Protective services right now and would like to remain in similar field. I also have worked with adult clients with mental illness in community.

My question is- where to move?? I would like to be close enough to the city to see my brother and find work. But I also love the country and want affordable living. I just don't know enough about social services in Seattle to know where to look. Money is an issue as I will be covering most of the cost for expenses. I am looking to rent or own. I would like to own but it would have to be under $200,000. Up and coming areas are fine as I have a brother in construction that can help. Any help in areas to look would be great. Thank you!

Owning a horse means you will be looking at $500K+ properties unless you plan to board it. Near the city (15 miles or so) closer to $1.5M.

Try looking at Sedro-Wooley, which has the Northern State Hospital. There are a few homes there in your price range with an acre or even more with a mobile.
There are even new homes in your range or just above in Marysville, but on small lots, and older small homes with acreage. Avoid the Tulalip reservation area for living though many there could use your services. In fact, you might try their clinic for work, and Marysville is an easy commute to Everett which also has mental health services.
