Hello all,

How much would you pay a house cleaner to clean a 2800 sq ft house?

I've seen a very broad range, but notice many housekeepers are far more expensive here than in Los Angeles. I pay mine $15/hr (same size house), but I've seen some cleaners/companies charging as much as $40/hr. That seems high to me, but maybe I'm just out of touch!

We pay $170 for twice a month cleaning of our condo (size 1100 sq. ft. with 3 kitties). It often depends on how thorough they are, how messy you are, how often they clean, how many kids/pets you have, etc. It's not a simple flat rate usually.

$15/hr seems pretty good. Where do you find these folks?

we paid our Los Angeles housekeepers around $10/hr (2 people would clean for around 3+ hours and we paid them $70 every other week) but pretty much all labor is more expensive up here.

Thank you all, sounds like I should expect around $160-$180 (unless I use Casa Latina!)

I've used Seattle Green Cleaner for 2 years and been very, very happy with their work. They clean everything, right down to the baseboards. seattlegreencleaner [dot] com is their site if you're curious.

I have used Casa Latina before to do some manual yard work and stuff like that. They were ok. I have heard some mixed reviews about the folks who clean homes but maybe I'll give it a shot.

Some businesses are super high! I inquired about a house cleaner for our old house, which was 3200 sq ft. They wanted $400 per cleaning! I think prices are crazy high here.

If someone knows a good house cleaning company that doesn't charge an arm and a leg (and is properly insured), PM me! I'd love to hire someone, but not at those prices :-/
