Hey! I am a 27 y/o female moving to Seattle in June. I will be working at Puget Sound Veterans hospital but I am looking to live closer to the city... any suggestions? I am trying to find a place no more than $1300 a month. I also want a cool neighborhood. I am hoping to find something in an area with people my age as well as lots of bars restaurants and activities going on. I have never been to Seattle and I have no idea where anything is... I've heard of Capitol HIll and Queen Anne but it all seems so expensive... PLEASE HELP

West Seattle! Very cool little place, lots of young people, beachy vibe, quaint shops and insane views. Much cheaper than Cap Hill and Queen Anne. Definitely where I'd live if I jumped into a time machine and was a young, single girl again. Sigh. Check it out!

There are one-bedroom apartments for $1200 and under on Capitol Hill and First Hill. They just might not always have the most up-to-date amenities/appliances, be in older buildings, etc. The #60 bus runs directly from Capitol Hill and First Hill to 15th Ave S and S. Oregon St, which is about a .12-mile walk to the Veteran's Hospital (20-25 minutes).

Route 60 - King County Metro Transit

If it's the one in Tacoma, I would look at Ruston Way, Downtown Tacoma, or Hilltop. Downtown and Hilltop aren't the safest clean cut areas but near alot of great restaurants and entertainment. You also have beautiful views and access to waterways.
Downtown Tacoma. With that budget yu can find alot of really nice apartments in Tacoma!

Ruston Way

But if it's Seattle then listen to what they all said!

West Seattle is a great idea. More affordable, beach and nice beach neighborhood with shops, coffeeshops, bars. Beautiful parks, too.

Really, you should not worry about what neighborhood you live in, as long as its safe. People don't talk to each other here, so it's not like you're going to just get to know people walking around. I'm just saying, don't feel like you need to pay a premium to live in a walkable area.

Do you mean the one on Beacon ave S?

Beacon Hill or Columbia city might be good, cheaper options, and close to your work.

If Capitol Hill or First Hill seem more appealing, note that you can still find one-bedrooms and studios for under 1300. Not the new, flashy, amenity-packed ones that advertise a lot (and seem to make certain people on this forum think that studios in Seattle start at around 1800 or something, sheesh...), but decent ones in decent locations nonetheless.
