I am an avid Mariners fan, have been for a decade(even though I live in Atlanta, go figure) and I watched the Mariners all last year. They came close but in the end they didn't make it. I still say they could have made it because they had a good season, especially compared to the last few seasons since 2004. Do you think they could go to the playoffs this year?

All I can do is hope. Because last year, they blew it big time late in the year. They teased everyone just enough so that you bought tickets, but when it mattered they failed. I hope they make it next year, c'mon M's!

No, they won't get in the playoffs and if they do they will be eliminated in the first round. Sorry to be a buzzkill, but history has a tendancy to repeat itself.

There is one approach they can take as a team to GUARANTEE that the Seattle Mariners will go to the playoffs this year:

Wait until the playoff participants are determined at the end of the season, go to StubHub, and purchase enough tickets for the entire team to go and enjoy the games. That way the ownership can proudly claim, "See? We guaranteed during Spring Training that the Seattle Mariners would go to the playoffs this year!"

I really don't understand why no MLB organization has offered me a GM job.

There are so many holes in the lineup and rotation...getting Bedard will help but I don't see them as serious contenders even if they do manage to make it in.

Nope. I haven't seen a move made that I'd call a positive step. And I would include the Bedard deal in that if it happens.

I wish a certain man by the name of William Henry Gates would buy the Seattle Mariners and get Ken Griffey Jr. to come back to the team. I remember his days as a Mariner.

While the Mariners' Japanese ownership is not spectacular, they have shown that they are willing to spend on big name free agents. The Mariners regularly have a top 10 payroll in the league. The Seahawks ownership, what more is there to say. It doesn't get much better than a multi-multi-billionaire local owner.

The team that really needs new ownership is the Sonics. Die in a fire Clay Bennet, die in a fire.

The A's are clearly in rebuilding mode. With their pitching, the M's could give the Angels a run for their playoff money.

The M's could do it this year. I have been waiting for the day that the Mariners go to the World Series. So far it hasn't happened, but I'm still holding out hope. I've been an M's fan for at least a decade.
