Discovery Park in the Magnolia part of Seattle is magnificent, so much nature so close. You could couple that with a walk around the big Alaska going fishing boats of Fisherman's terminal of Magnolia. Happy hour and sunset at Ray's on Shilshole and perhaps a bonfire at Golden Gardens Park would make it a perfect Northwest day.

Are you driving from Boise? If so, take an extra hour or two (or three) en route to visit the Palouse, including Palouse Falls, magical at this time of year...

I believe this falls is the one I stopped at with my family on a vacation round about the late 90's. A cow was lying dead down below near the edge of the water there. It must've slipped off of that rock outcropping at the left of the picture of the falls above. I've never forgotten that sight though the falls is absolutely beautiful and worth seeing!
