In Lynnwood I can get a much newer bigger and more modern apartment for less money.
You can actually get a nice house in a decent neighborhood in Lynnwood or even Federal Way for $1600 or so a month. Don't forget that we don't have the 10% state income tax that they have in California. And, yes, I don't know why I am telling you this, as I don't want a lot of Californians moving here and driving up the prices.

That is just it. You can get a nice 1 or 2 bedroom modern apartment in the Seattle suburbs for just over 1,000 a month. Yes, some areas are above, some are below. Houses vary, but the above poster is not that far off.

If you are looking for newer apartments at a lower rent, check Kent, Auburn, even Puyallup and Tacoma. Of course, your job location could become a factor, as even 15 mile commutes can last over an hour.

I'm well aware of California's 10% income tax. I already found 3 apartments in lynnwood that I really like.

Guess what, this has been a common view since I was born and that goes back a number of decades. Also, guess what #2, it didn't work.

Actually, I have always said I have no problem with Californians moving to Washington as long as they can accept the fact they are not in California anymore and they don't whine about Washington not being the "same" as California. It's that simple.

I want to move to Washington because it's different than California.

The "freeze" is only meant for people I described in my previous post. Yes, many Seattleites are private, but once you get to know them they are great, down-home people. It just takes a little extra time sometimes. Also, please remember Seattle is mostly made up of people that have moved there in recent years or decades. Perhaps it is the new melting pot, but more precisely, it is probably made up of those of a similar mind-set. I think I can tell you are one of them.
