In comparing Renton and Burien which would you say is better for a young family? Two active boys ages 4 and 6. Thinking about things like schools, sports, other kids, things to do in the neighborhood, safety/being able to play etc.

Personally Burien feels a little more safer too me and feels like the people are a little better, but Renton has a really cool "downtown" area and waterfront park!

I like them both. I live in Renton. Burien's worst neighborhoods are worse than Renton's worst neighborhoods. Renton's schools tend to be better(Renton has good and bad schools. Burien's are mostly bad, but they've got a great Superintendent of schools.) The main drag of Burien, SW 152nd, is quaint and charming. I'd say they're both safe, for the most part, and both have kid centric activities. Both have lots of kids. Burien has Puget Sound(and Seahurst Park). Renton has Lake Washington(and Coulon Park.) Both have parts of town that are more run down and sad. Burien is a slightly faster commute to downtown Seattle, Renton an easier commute to Bellevue. Renton(in the Renton Highlands) has Meadow Crest playground, one of the best in the Seattle area.
