Hello people,

So my wife and I have decided it time to jump off the sinking ship that is California and move further north. A little bit about us

-I'm a developer and she is graphic design
-Both 27 with at least 3 yrs under our belts
-Both into target shooting but not hardcore like some CA ppl
-Both love DnD and Pathfinder
-Love cooking and baking

I am looking for a place where we could possibly get a 2-3 bedroom house (or townhouse if house isnt in the price range). Since I might not have a job by the time I get there (still working on talk to my current company), I don't know where I would get a job; so being close to job central would be nice. My budget is about 2k max a month as I hope to be making 70-80k when i get there.

Doing some research on houses, I found shoreline was the best price for closeness and space. Can anyone recommend places for a younger couple to start?

-I would like a newer area (hate the look of older houses)
-Safe
-About my age

Also if anyone was from CA, can you recommend a full service mover? With all the negative reviews its hard to have faith in movers now a days.

Thanks,
Plantice

What's wrong with "older houses"? Seattle has lots of them.

We're pretty much the opposite of Gilbert, AZ in every way. Doesn't sound like a good fit.

There are a quite a few newer homes in Lynnwood and it is a convenient location. You might also look at Renton.

I've used Upack.com numerous times for out of state moves. I highly recommend them. You load your stuff, and they do all the driving.

When you say "developer", do you mean land developer or software developer? If the latter, you should easily get more than 70-80k.

@seacove. Just the buildings not the place itself lol. I hate their climate 99% of the time.

@homesinseattle Thanks for the heads up, i'll check it outr

@bolo99 They are my top option atm, still looking at other options

@Pnwguy software developer. Since my current company is kinda old, moving to seattle is almost going to be a fresh start for me. So I would go back to software developer 1 in most cases but your right looking it up it would be around 80-90k.

Newer housing developments are located in the 'burbs north, south, and east of Seattle. If that is your taste, fine, but be prepared for a soul-sucking commute.

There are newer apartment, condo, and townhouse developments in Seattle, which would give you a much more reasonable commute. SF houses are mostly from the 40s or earlier.

Ballard has brand new modern townhomes popping up on every corner, but I'm not sure you could get into one for $2K per month.
