I'm a single 34 year old white male who has lived in the Los Angeles,CA are my full life. I'm seriously considering moving to Seattle for a change in scenery. I would move to mot likely Lynnwood, Kirkland or Bellevue.

In the Los Angeles area I'm having trouble finding a job. Our unemployment is very very high.

Currently I don't know anyone in the Seattle area.

Online on craigslist there are serveral rooms in Bellevue and Kirkland that I can afford to rent.

When I visited Issaquah and Bellevue last week the people seemed very happy and friendly.

Are there any people from the Los Angeles area who are glad that they moved to the Seattle area?

I moved here from Orange County but I have family in Oregon and Washington. Honestly, It's best if you know someone who lived here already, preferably a native, or someone who's lived here long enough to pass for a native. Making friends here is hard, but people aren't any more or less flaky than SoCal people. People here are only superficially friendly, making friends will require more effort, but I've found people here are quite loyal once they are your friends.
Our job market is better, but again, it's best to know people. If you change your phone number to a 206 or 425 number, it will help with getting called back for interviews.

I know a 33 year old single woman who lives in Bellevue. She emails my job listings in Seattle.

I moved from Los Angeles (beach area) years ago and you couldn't pay me to move back. It depends on why you are moving from Los Angeles. If you were just doing it for a job, but love LA otherwise, you may be miserable.

The weather is obviously very different from there, but I always joke that I'll take the weather here over the people there any day. For me it was a no-brainer. LA was plenty fun when I was young, but you couldn't pay me to raise my three kids there now.

For what it's worth I have found people here to be amazing. Everyone on the Eastside is a transplant. Seattle natives, yes they are hard to get to know, and sort of odd in a hard to describe way. But living on the east side as a single person may be kind of hard. I can't speak to whether there's any kind of social scene for that.

I grew up in Los Angeles in a place in the San Fernando Valley called Encino. I was miserable in Los Angeles with rude people and unable to get a job there. Atleast here in Seattle I don't need a car and have a job and my own apartment in Northgate Seattle.

I actually work in Bellevue.

I like it here too. I like having seasons and watching leaves change colors, etc. I also like the fresh air.

I thought the weather was a little too hot the past 3 summers so I guess overall, I'm just not a summer person (it's just too hot here). It gets really cold in the winter but I don't mind that as much.

From a work perspective, I found the tech scene to be much more vibrant up here in Seattle than LA so that's been good too.

I lived in Encino for a while! Grew up by the beach. Can't imagine going back now. There's no there there.

Love it here, love that my kids are being raised here.
