Yeah. Tacky to the max. Yet tabloid gossip rags continue to fill supermarket checkout stands.

I've been good friends with good friends of Dave Matthews and (the late) Curt Cobain, and with someone who knew Macklemore on a professional level -- does that count? And they (the non-celebrity friends) are all exceedingly normal. I've run into Dave Matthews twice, once at Green Lake and the next time in Fremont, but never spoken to him -- he's a talented Dad musician and humanitarian. I admire anyone who uses their celebrity to advance causes for social justice. I would never approach Bill or Melinda Gates in their own neighborhood -- how invasive! -- but I think they are both awesome sauce for devoting the majority of their wealth to solving health and educational problems.

Seen some Seahawks players around the Eastside suburbs. Not a Hawks fan since my allegiance lies with another team so I don't get all giddy when I see a player, but sometimes I'll strike up convos with them depending on my prior impressions of how friendly they are. I'd love to meet Russell Wilson.

Yeah, the closest I come to any of that is that a good amount of people I work with know Mario Segale. Nintendo named a certain character after him when he let them continue to rent a place when they first came to America.

I never really thought of Seattle as having "famous" people though.

Through fame we honor what is best in us; through celebrity we worship what is worst.
