Hi all,

I'm moving to Bellevue from Texas with my boyfriend in April. We're both working in downtown Bellevue and plan to live relatively close to work (within ~3-4 miles).

Coming from a state with huge cars and endless parking, I was astonished to see the parking prices in Bellevue. Do you all think we could survive in Bellevue with only one car? Our other avenues of transportation would be walking/ biking to work.

Thanks!

If you live near where you work and ride share, should be ok. Get acquainted with the bus routes.

You could survive with only one car. Apartments in downtown Bellevue are fairly expensive, but there are occasional deals out there. Otherwise, there are all kinds of neighborhoods in Bellevue within about a ten minute bus ride. metro's Rapid Ride B Line goes to Crossroads, Overlake, and Redmond from downtown Bellevue. It's a ten minute ride to Crossroads, which has all kinds of shopping and restaurants nearby. The bus runs every 15 minutes, more frequently during rush hours.

Exactly, I lived in Bellevue for many years and still took the bus around instead of driving. You don't have to worry about parking and generally I just prefer not to drive. If you're going to live here, learn to separate yourselves from your car.

I live in Bellevue and I have driven a car maybe twice in the past 18 months. I work in Seattle and I bus or walk everywhere I go. My husband does some work locally, so he has the car. I commute to Seattle. One car is definitely doable, especially if you live so close to work.
