The Seahawks will be playing before you know it and then nobody will care about the Mariners. Summer moves fast. September will be here before you know it. The NFL offseason is more exciting than the MLB regular season. I can't wait for the NFL Draft on April 28th in Chicago.

Obviously you have not been watching the Mariners since '77! But, even though I started this thread, I do have hope. Always have, always will. Maybe that is why I started this...I can be TOO passionate sometimes.

Yes, if you think you can compete before opening day you can't make rash judgements before memorial day. No one has the White Sox winning it all because their 7-2, its early.

Mediocre? They have the longest current playoff drought in MLB, I'd say they're pathetic.

They have been among the worst teams (consistently) since 2001, and it doesn't look like that's going to change anytime soon. The ownership already has a proven track record of not caring, so expect plenty more bad seasons ahead.

I wouldn't go that far, but your stats are true. I don't think ownership doesn't care, but they have indeed rested on their laurels of bringing in well-to-do fans who spend a lot not only on tickets, but on food and beverage. This is well-documented. At some point, the team will need to challenge. They kinda did last year, but obviously it wasn't enough.

The idea that the team will always show a profit is wrong. They need to be in the race or otherwise they will continue to lose revenue. Safeco is a beautiful stadium, consistently rated as one of the best in MLB, but it will go for naught if this team can't challenge.

With a reference point of the Padres, the M's try to win, signing some big names.
The Friars ownership group is greedy and a great failure; they even signed "closer" Rodney (giving up Kimbrel).
