We're looking to a potential move to the Kirkland/Redmond/Bothell general area (I have a job offer in Kirkland). We're going to look at aprtments next month, but I think that general area would be best for our lifestyle, budget, and my commute. My fiance would have to commute to the airport a couple times a week. But, as a pilot, he'd drive there, fly for a few days, and drive back (making the driving commute not as long as it's split up).

But, I still want to consider the traffic. He'd likely be traveling very early in the morning, or later at night rather than the average commuter hours (and he could leave earlier to avoid some traffic as needed). How long is the commute? Google Maps says about 36-70 minutes. Is it do-able if you don't drive it everyday? I was looking at bus schedules but they were sooo confusing. Is there a bus (or train or whatever) that goes from that general eastern area to the airport? Or, would it involve so many transfers to not even make it worthwile? I was thinking if it was a nice/safe bus, he might like being able to read or be on the computer rather than sitting in traffic.

There is a Sound Transit express bus (http://www.soundtransit.org/x7225.xml - broken link) that he can catch at the Bellevue Transit Center that goes to the airport that takes about 45-50 minutes.

You could drop him off there or there are lots of buses that will feed the BTC as it's one of the transit hubs of the eastside.
