You're not taking into account that 1+1=2.

It doesn't matter that you know that. You didn't say it, so apparently I can accuse you of not taking it into account.

Well, if you were thinking that, how am I to know it, if you don't say it?

Where in this is there anything about "population growth and/or income growth":

Quote:
The core fans might be largely different people, but teams depend on non-core fans.

The people of this region have a limited amount of money for entertainment and to some extent it simply gets divided among whatever options exist. Another team might mean more of that money goes to tickets overall, but it's still dividing the same money. (Except the net effect of bringing more money from out of town vs. what would have happened otherwise, but that should be a fairly low number)
I read that as saying it is a "zero sum game" (1 - 1 = 0). My response was, simply, that it isn't. Note, I'm not saying that both an NBA and NHL team will be successful here - I just don't see any reason why they can't be. I do think that a non-subsidized state-of-the-art arena here needs both NBA and NHL tenants to pencil out.

So you reading comprehension was the problem. You inferred something I didn't say.

I can't read something that's not there. Any inferences on my part were from what you said, not whatever you might not have said (I'm not a mind reader): "a limited amount of money", "dividing the same money", etc.

It seems to me that you are simply avoiding 1) defending your post and 2) responding to mine, and resorting to ad hominem taunts instead. I did respond, without insults, to yours.

Have a good day.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, Seattle has a colorful hockey history. Three Stanley Cup series, one of which the Metropolitans won in 1917, becoming the first U.S. team to win the coveted Cup. The 1919 series was cancelled due to a flu epidemic...different world back then.

The Seattle Totems and The Seattle Thunderbirds both had good fan support in the Western Hockey League. The Totems won three championships in the late 50's and 60's.

I believe the NHL would do well in Seattle. Just need a suitable arena.

So you admit that you never posted that 1+1=2? Also the sky is blue...why are you disregarding this fact?

Not that you'll get this. But as usual the people who would benefit from logic class typically don't know it.

The market/atmosphere around Seattle/Tacoma/Everett seems similar to what Denver was as a hockey area before the Avalanche moved there. Perhaps good, certainly not great, hockey area.....now it may be the top hockey town (major metros anyway) in the US West.

The University of Denver has a hockey team. That's a foreign concept here.

Except, you weren't doing addition, but subtraction (1-1=0). Zero sum game. Once again, have a nice day.
