Seattle and WA state have been getting some attention as a good ski area recently.

The secret's out and there's no schussing it: Seattle is a great ski town - LA Times

Yes, cross country and snowshoeing over the mountains in the Methow Valley is amazing. We live in a gorgeous place. I'll put in a plug for the following too:

Just renewed our season's passes and my 12 year old daughter and I are headed to Stevens Pass on Saturday. We don't like traffic so take off early at 6AM, clear the congestion then have breaky in Gold Bar. The drive is beautiful. From our home near Green Lake, we can be to Stevens in 1 hour 40 min. I love that Stevens in in the National Forest, therefore no real development around it. Beautiful place, laid back mountain culture. See you on the hill, I hear the snow has been epic already this year.

Seattle a ski town??? Well, if you believe the LA Times and the Washington Post know something about skiing!!

Really, the only ski resort worth visiting on that list is Mt. Baker. And linking the Methow Valley to Seattle which is close to SEVEN hours in typical winter driving conditions is quite the stretch.

As a somebody that administered ski areas in my job....you want to live in Spokane or Salt Lake City if your into downhill skiing.

If your into the outdoors beyond skiing you want to live in Spokane. It is the only city with an OUTDOOR section in the Sunday paper. Not a column, but a section of the paper. It is the only county with a county commissioner to sumited Mt. Everest.

Here is a link to their outdoor web section. Notice the diversity of outdoor activities.

Beg to differ, 509. My family and I love Stevens Pass. I'm not a pro level skier (perhaps you are) but I'm pretty good and find plenty to challenge me there. Besides, it's just a really friendly vibe and very accessible from Seattle. I'm not saying it's Whistler but it's just fine for us. Here's the latest snow report, 4 foot base already, I'll take it: https://www.stevenspass.com/site/mou...weather-report
