My husband met me, I was born and raised in Seattle, lived on Capitol Hill at the time. He lived in California ( it's a long story)

My husband met me here. I'm a native, he's from Chicago. I was out at Fado's with friends. The two of us who weren't married both met our husbands at that bar that night (the guys didn't know each other). I highly recommend Irish pubs for meeting people!

I love this story. It goes to show that chatting people up in coffeeshops, teahouses, grocery stores WORKS!

...for some people.

Here you go, OP--a link to info on the Balkan dance nights. I see in the photo on their little website that it looks like it's mostly elderly people. It was never like that when I participated; it's always been for teens and 20- and 30-somethings. If it's a more age-diverse crowd now, it might take you more time to make connections with people your age, but they'll be there, definitely. It's not a geezer thing. It's always been popular and trendy in certain circles in the younger demographic. Your "exotic" look would fit right in, if you're a nice, friendly guy.

And you can see on that page that they're connected with the organization that puts on the annual Folklife Festival. Folklife has events year-round that you can attend, or do volunteer work for. It's another social circle where you'd fit right in, if you're interested in world music and dance and art traditions.

these threads annoy me. Women in Seattle have choices. If your not young, good looking, making good money etc, then women won't go on second dates with you. At least that's what I understand. Pretty much fits with the shallow west coast MO.

On the flip side, I know someone who dates for fun and has chalked up the fact he's never going to find "Mrs. right". He just goes around getting what he wants and goes from there leaving the ball in her court. He rents luxury cars and rents suits that would cost thousands to buy. Says it's what it takes to get women to go out with him. I think it's funny. The street goes both ways.

That's nonsense. It sounds like you don't live in Seattle, probably not even in WA State. Many women do not have choices. Many women are invisible to men, because the guys are mainly looking for babes, not ordinary, average women. If they weren't so picky, they'd see it's not that hard to get a date.

Your "at least that's what I understand" statement, qualifying your claim about the dating scene in Seattle, made it pretty clear you're unfamiliar with the dating scene in Seattle, which is what lead me to ASSume you're not from Seattle.
