We are moving to Seattle this spring (like many others it seems) and have a child in high school. She is currently in an IB school and we would like her to continue with this program. It looks like Ingraham in the school in northern Seattle that offers this program. As I understand if we want to ensure she can attend this school we should live in district. Does anyone have experience or know any info about transferring into another district school if we are unable to find a home in this area? Thanks. We have called Seattle schools but have not gotten a helpful answer yet.

Note: there are several other options for IB programs within Seattle Public as well as in the suburban districts. IB is also offered at Chief Sealth in W. Seattle and Ranier Beach in SE Seattle. The program in Bellevue is well regarded.

For the most part given the limited capacity in the system, if you want to go to Ingraham, you really need to purchase within its attendance zone. Transfer from even another part of the city, let alone outside the district is a very chancy proposition.
