I live in the highlands and commute to downtown Seattle for work. Generally I carpool with my wife to the stadium and get the light rail downtown, but she is on mat leave. I am currently driving to Issaquah transit center down 900 and taking a bus into downtown. This isnt bad, but the drive back after work is sometimes over 30 minutes and if there is an accident, all of 900 is shut down.

I started looking for an alternative route and found just down the hill from my house there is a park and ride at New Life Church. It only has 25 spots, s I was wondering if any one uses this and knows how quickly they fill up? Also, anyone have experience using the 143 downtown? I don't mind sitting on a bus, I just hate driving right now. Trying to find a better solution if possible.

Or if anyone in the highlands area has a better route, I would love to hear it

Amazon runs a bus through Issaquah through a reservation system. From what I've heard, there are employees who choose to drive and reserve for their friend. Just an option since I've heard Issaquah Highlands neighbours are quite close so maybe you know someone.

I sometimes have afternoon meetings at the airport and use Sunset/900 to get home in Sammamish, and always ting it smooth sailing toward Issaquah, but nasty going the other (your) way. 90 to 405 would be worse, though. I have no experience with that p&r but isn't there a Seattle bus from Renton Highlands Park & Ride - 2516 NE 16th Street - 146 spaces?

Going your way sure is nice at that time I drove out to the New Life Park and Ride and it had way more than 25 spots. I may give it a shot Monday.

Thanks for the tip on the Renton Highlands Park and Ride. I just checked it out and sure enough there is a direct bus 2 blocks from my work. I might have to give this a shot as well. I wish we had a renton light rail. Maybe that 54 billion tax will build one some day.

FYI I took this the past two days and it was great. Plenty of space at the park and ride and plenty of space on the bus. I now drive 4 minutes and take a 50m-1h bus instead of driving 20-45 minutes and taking a 40 minute bus. I generally spend more time on the bus now, but have a lot less driving time.

It does take research and some trial and error to find the best route. I currently drive to the Issaquah transit center and take the 214 in the morning, 554 in the afternoon, and save 1/2 hour over my former route using the 269 from Issaquah to Sammamish, It runs only every half hour and if I missed it had to stand in the cold 20-25 minutes.

Yeah the only problem is the 143 stops running around 6. So on days like today where I am going to a work social gathering after work, I have to take a different route. I'm on the 214 right now. I wonder if we ever ride the same 214 or 554 bus 😀

Most of this will be moot once my wife is off maternity leave. She works at Starbucks and gets free parking at Safeco. We carpooling and i get dropped off at stadium light rail for a quick ride downtown.
