Welcome to the Planet of the Red Sun.

A little rain. Just a little rain... would put out the fires and clean all this up.

Yeah it's a crazy little red orb. Pretty cool. Thursday can't come soon enough.

I am old enough to remember when this used to happen from Mt. St. Helens, when the wind was blowing right.

Beautiful, tried to photograph the red orb over Green Lake but it didn't capture. Surreal.

Yes, a thick layer, but it blew off easily when I drove off. The sun is definitely red here in Seattle, but no ash here on the waterfront yet. It's coming though, one of my people says it's raining ash at Capitol Hill.

I had a thin layer on my car (in Capitol Hill) this morning around 6:30 when I left. But yeah, the different between the eastside (where I work) and westside was noticeable at that time.

Wow, I was going to make a thread about all the particles flying around in the air.

I was thinking that these particles were ashes from the mountain fires near Cle Elum and Central WA area.

I didn't realize the ash until I got to my apartment complex and parked my car to retrieve my mail. I walked outside towards the mailbox and noticed all these small particles flying around. I initially thought they were bugs, but it kept coming down in millions of particles. I then realized that these were ash from the fire.

Question. Since the wild fires have been going on for a while, why is it that we see the scattered ashes today? Is it because the wind direction changed overnight?
