The Wal-Mart owned wholesale warehouse chain will close in North Seattle, Renton, and Auburn. I don't have inside info, but I would assume competitor Costco's heavy presence in the region is atleast partly to blame. The moves come as Sam's Club shutters 60+ locations across the country.

I didn't even know we had Sam's in the area. So I guess I contributed by not contributing. I knew they had Sam's in the Chicago area- it's my mom's go-to place. They have Costco now, too, but no one near her seems to go there.

Same here. Oh well.
I can't imagine any club warehouse being as good as Costco anyway.
We tried BJ's when we lived in New Hampshire. That place was a joke. Like a broke down Costco.
We gave up our membership, and drove 75 minutes one way to Costco. BJ's was about 30 minutes away.

The North Seattle Sam's Club was the only WalMart presence inside the Seattle city limits. at 13550 Aurora N. However, Costco is just a mile north at 175th and Aurora, the site of the old Aurora Village Mall.

If anyone has any other Seattle questions about the 60's and 70's, my replies are at the waiting.

Mod cut. When such a big outfit cant make it in a boom city it throws some caution to how far Seattle's restlessness growth will continue its upswing.

Maybe it's the model of selling the crappiest-possible stuff from sweatshops in low-wage countries while also paying basically nothing to your own workers?
