Hi All,

Looking for some recommendations.
What are nice areas within a reasonable commuting distance (like 30-40 min) from SEATAC airport?
Don’t mind suburbian feel but don’t want to live in the middle of nowhere either.
Safety & family friendliness are important to me, relatively easy access to the city would be nice but isn’t a top priority.
Thinking about maybe West Seattle, Newcastle or Southern part of Bellevue, maybe East Renton Highlands but have not been to any of those areas. How do they compare and are there other areas that are nice and somewhat affordable within the commuting distance? Looking for a 2 bedroom and would like to spend not much more than 2k in rent, less would be great of course...
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Don't overlook Burien, especially downtown Burien and west of there. 10 minutes to the airport, 15-20 to downtown Seattle. Nice, safe, vibrant downtown area, family friendly, and pretty.
If public schools are a concern, Normandy Park, just south of Burien, has a great elementary school.

Columbia City is nice, and fun. Just more expensive than Burien.

Beacon Hill, Rainier Beach and Downtown Renton would all also be options. As Ira says, Columbia City is great, vibrant, close to light rail. Your money though, would go farther in Burien.

Your screen name "JaJa", is what my travel friends from Spain say when they are happily excited. Are you from Madrid or Barcelona?

Keep West Seattle in the running! It's got such a great vibe! Close to where you want to be, not horrid to Seattle, but juuuust bad enough to Seattle so that you don't have quite-Seattle prices. I love the area around Trader Joe's, but lots of people really adore Alki (too much summer traffic for me).
