My suggestions were based primarily on my feeling about how your lives vibe based on where you live now and your comment "access to local shops/cafes". I just can't imagine you would dig the Eastside based on that. The neighborhoods I've mentioned are all places with character, emerging spots where you get more for your money.

The 522/312 route that goes through Lake City, Kenmore, Bothell, Woodinville will get you downtown (near the convention center) in about 40 minutes. 700k should be fine for a 3/2 but it'll be an older home around 1960-1980ish. One of my neighbors sold his ~1700 sqft 3/2 for about 700k with a nice yard and a quiet side street, Northshore School district has excellent schools as well, lots of things to do in the downtown areas of Bothell/Woodinville as far as local shops, cafes, food (lots of organic farms in Woodinville where you can buy direct from the farms).

Not a bad idea, robrath. Definitely could work at $700K on the price range and you are right about the schools. I just don't think that area will give them the same walkability that they may be used to in Wallingford. Once you've had that, it's hard to let go of.
