In what area will you be working? Can make a big difference in where you choose to live. If working at Swedish Cherry Hill, for instance, you might not want to live in Ballard, but it could work for working at UWMC.

OP: Make the move. I lived in Seattle and loved it until a job opportunity took me back to my home state. I'm currently preparing to move to the East Coast because I have that internal "make a change" urge. It sounds like you would benefit from a fresh start, shedding fears, and throw yourself into the activities available in the PNW. I was single when I moved there and didn't have a problem establishing relationships. I always got a lot of smiles and sometimes a bit of conversation from the cute professional guys downtown I didn't take my car to Seattle and didn't regret it. Public transportation gets a bad rap but I was able to get to work fine (even working at different sites) and utilize ride shares, etc as suggested.

My only dislikes regarding Seattle in general, my hair never looked "great" (could get style to stay and bangs were out of the question!) lol and more seriously I did feel threatened by the homeless population at times which was surprising because I've lived in major cities. I had one man come barreling down a hill with his arm up to strike my mom and I. He was so intimidating this guy walking next to us hid behind us!! Fortunately he was off centered enough we were able to avoid physical harm but there were instances like that and others where I was followed that made me nervous

Aside from this, my experience was wonderful and I look back on the years fondly. Hope you're able to jump on the opportunity and enjoy the area

Exactly. The OP hasn't found a job yet. Obviously, choosing a neighborhood would depend on where she ends up working. OP has been advised to get back to us, once she lands a job. But she's also checking out Portand and one other regional city.

She has a job offer on the table at same pay as NY. Which means a pay increase bc of the lack of state Income tax.

You're right; I guess her thread asking about Portland and Denver is an older thread, now superseded by a Seattle job offer.

Thank you all! Honestly, I find men everywhere don’t approach much anymore with the online options. Sad but true. I do hope to live in Capitol Hill near my job or maybe try Ballard. The goal is to get by without a car and maybe get one at a later time.

^#metoo, and like issues make face-to-face initial contacts and then initial intimate relationships questionable for males. When he gets home (Oregon) tonight, I am going to encourage him to get a prepaid legal and an Umbrella.

This is nonsense. This is just an excuse for shy guys to hide behind. And there have always been shy guys lacking the confidence to approach. It's nothing new. What IS new is OLD, the perfect venue for shy guys, which may be disincentivizing even some of the non-shy guys from approaching IRL, but there are still guys who do approach IRL, when motivated enough. We still occasionally get guys posting here, who say they have no trouble getting dates in Seattle, because they're friendly and sociable, so they really stand out from all the passive guys.

Never said DS couldn't get dates. He is "Interviewing." He's now senior tech level. He also listed on mortgages on one of our properties and is the PM for the rentals. Our interest is that he and we need him to be protected. It's a fraction of 1% to him.
