Hey all,

Check out this article I came across...

New plan could put the brakes on bike-share in Seattle | KOMO

Thoughts? I haven't actually used the bike share bikes before (I have my own bike), but i'm curious about experiences from others who may have used them?

I've seen the homeless using them to construct impromptu shelters: 2 Lime bikes +1 blue tarp + 1 sleeping bag = a home!

Me too, and have seen them in the water at low tide, but mostly littering the sidewalks so we have to walk around them. I never see anyone ride them, I see a lot of cyclists but on their own. It wasn’t too bad in winter and spring but now the clocks of tourists and the parked bikes make it hard to get around the sidewalks.

I see people using these every single day and I think it's great. Every now and again I'll encounter someone who operates one like they just started learning how to use their body that very morning, but most people seem to enjoy the novelty and ability to quickly traverse the city. It seems to me that, while parked bikes on a sidewalk can be a nuisance, if you can't successfully navigate your way around them and other pedestrians...

Just happened to see this interesting article. Apparently it hasn't worked out very well in China.

After seeing some of those pictures, seeing a bike or two left on a sidewalk/in a ditch while I'm out and about doesn't seem so bad!

Sounds like suppliers were overly eager to build far more bikes than were needed for demand there.

I liked the LimeBikes, they were very convenient to use when I was a student since I didn't have my own. Wasn't aware of any other bike share services aside from Ovo.

In the Seattle area, I see the Lime brand, along with ofo and Spin.

People must be using them around me- they are always in different places on my walk. I've only seen a few people on them.

The widespread lack of helmet usage with those still baffles me.

I went out and rode my own bike for a few hours yesterday, and saw tons of people out on Lime bikes - so people are definitely using them!

homes, I'm with you on the lack of helmet use I see regularly!
