I abandoned the BC portion of the trip because I knew it would be even worse, which it was.

August should be the most beautiful time of the year. The past two summers it’s been my least favorite month.
Bluefox, do you know if it is clear right on the ocean, spots like La Push and Kalaloch?

I've been checking this map fairly regularly the past few days...

https://aqicn.org/map/washington/#@g...9/-120.3827/7z

Last I checked, Neah Bay was reading around 97, but Aberdeen was almost as bad as Seattle @ 159...

A lot of smoke has made it's way to the coast and will have to be blown through western WA w/the next marine push before we get some clean air again.

I'm doing the same thing and also eagerly waiting for the numbers to drop...

Yeah, I was at Rialto Beach right outside La Push on 8/14 and it was smoky. We backpacked from La Push to Toleak Point 8/15 and it was mostly cloudy/misty with no visible smoke, and on 8/16 coming back it was sunny again, mostly clear. Had breakfast in Sekiu on the 17th and were treated to a beautiful sunrise with no smoke, but when we got to the Port Angeles/Sequim area it was smoky again. I did catch a glimpse of some sea otters playing just offshore south of La Push and saw my first golden eagle in the wild, which made up for the crappy weather lol.

Thanks Icarus. Looks like Anacortes is the winner.
