I lived fairly close to Kinnear Park (in Lower Queen Anne and West Queen Anne) for some 20 years and never felt particularly uncomfortable or unsafe there. It is not a particularly large park, with only a couple trails. It does abut with the SW Queen Anne Greenbelt, which is where homeless camps are more likely to be, rather than in the park itself.

I doubt that crims are hiding out there waiting for you to come walking through, simply because few walk there at night, unless they are walking a dog, for instance. That said, it is urban, not a suburb.

There are other, less woodsy, open spaces nearby where you can walk, day or night: The Seattle Center, Kerry Park, and Myrtle Edwards Park (along Elliott Bay). Add the new Waterfront Esplanade, when it gets done, which will also be within walking distance.

I really enjoyed living in the area - lots of restaurants/bars, shopping, and tons of festivals and events (at the Center), so no lack of things to do and see.

Just drove through the area and it didn’t look too bad. When you get closer to Elliot from Mercer, it seems to be less lighting and I can see where the park starts. Otherwise it didn’t appear to be too bad. I’ll make a couple more trips this week at some different times to get a better feel.

Go during the day, I remember seeing tent cities even when looking out of the bus window. Unless election season magic happened and they finally did something to clean up those

Along Elliott is where the greenbelt is. Up on Mercer is pretty nice. Park the car and walk around to get a feel for the area.

Yep, we will be heading there during the day. When we went to see the condo, it was during the day and everything looked "normal".

Absolutely. We are going to head there this weekend to walk around and bar hop a little. Although, the condo might be in n active contract by then. Either way, I am not in a rush and will not get into the bidding war thing.

According to Zillow, there are eight 2bd/2ba condos within a couple blocks or so of Mercer near the park, for from $535k to $775k:
