I'm not sure plowing is going to do much. It's usually the ice that's such a problem.

The one winter I lived on the Tahuya peninsula, we got something like 15" of snow. Somebody plowed after 3 days and I was able to drive to the road going down the hill with no problem. Even going down the hill wasn't that bad. But coming back up it was a nightmare and that was on gravel. Now that hill is paved and I don't even want to think about driving it with ice on it.

Well that's the thing. The snow is one thing. AWD or even FWD is sufficient enough for the snow. But when it comes to the ice I don't care if you have 8WD! No one is safe on the ice. But I have noticed quite a few cars around here with studded snow tires. Thats a huge plus! They are illegal to use where I come from so you never see them. I was pretty stoked to see them being used here.

No sense in getting the mayor involved.

In the last 15 or 20 minutes since I've gotten home, we've had more snow than we got all morning. Now I'm hearing 2" an hour on the Kitsap side.

"The ice will take you where the ice wants you to go."

I checked into studded tires once. I was quoted $400 for 4 of them and that was in 2003. Decided I'd stick with cables. Which, of course, I now don't have. *sigh*

I know the snow will start sticking and Woodinville is very snowy. But the news this evening is pretty funny because the roads they're showing just aren't that bad and the downtown Seattle sidewalks are nothing more than wet. The newscasters are doing their best but it reminds me of years ago when we were anticipating a huge windstorm and it didn't happen. Two hours of coverage of a couple of fallen trees. The snow will probably get much worse but they are actually interviewing people on what they bought in the grocery store to keep them fortified during the snowpocalypse. Yes, charming and provincial but fresh spinach and some cheese hardly sounds like hibernation.
