Am i wrong to be concerned? .. coincidentally, just yesterday, a 19 y/o UW Student fell in the same manner, hitting her head and subsequently died.. Wanting to phone the school, and express my legit concern, that tho there may not have been no loss of consciousness, isn't it standard practice to send home a head injury report? That any injury to the head should be considered serious, and parents must be notified. The least that could have been done, was to phone me in case i felt that additional medical treatment was necessary. Thoughts? (13 y/o). Even for Football players, adult, there are concussion protocols, right?

When I was a kid in the 1970s, we sometimes played rough in the playground. We got knocked about. Nobody -- not us kids, not our parents, not the teachers -- thought it was any big deal.

Just to let you know, the student who fell at UW died from a blood clot not necessarily from falling (https://patch.com/washington/seattle...falling-campus). Not that it makes it less tragic or the need for taking caution in the current icy/snowy weather goes down.

Here is the Seattle Schools policy on student injuries: https://seattleschools.org/UserFiles...03000/3418.pdf

According to this policy any and all injuries are supposed to be reported to the parents simply by alerting them to an injury as soon as they can. There are no requirements or special reports for head injuries for normal students, simply alerting the parent so that they can be informed and get additional medical care if they see fit. There is another policy relating to concussions specifically which include a head injury report, but that is exclusively for athletes for the main purpose of collecting information and recording about youth sport injuries.

The UW student wasn't a kid either. They were an adult.

You should certainly have been notified if your child fell and his/her head, assuming it was seen by teachers. However, at age 13, I can imagine the assumption your child would notify you him/herself.
