Greetings all!

Basically, soon my wife, her 10 year old daughter and I are moving to the Seattle area. I am American but they are immigrants. My step daughter speaks English but not very well.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience or knowledge about the process of getting her enrolled in school? or knows with whom or where I should start?

Any info is greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

People are moving here from all over the world, the schools have good ESL resources. Kids learn so fast, she'll be fine! Here's a Seattle Schools ESL link that may really help: https://www.seattleschools.org/depar...guage_learners

She'll be fine. The school has to provide ESL accommodation. It might mean she gets it in her school or she goes to another school where the services are provided (varies by district).

All you need to do is contact the school you are assigned to or call the school district and let them know the situation. You'll need proof of ID, her birth certificate, some sort of utility bill to prove her residence. If you haven't adopted her formally then mom might need to to it. Mom might need to be listed on something like a utility bill. Or you might have to circumvent this by showing your marriage license if mom is also super new to the country. You just have to be able to prove that she's residing at your address.
